Question Solo Play

I enjoy solo rpg play. I played WOW and soloed most of the time except when a quest took me to an area that really needed grouping to complete. How much solo play is there in GW and does one need grouping to complete quests? I'm not a PVP person so I'm looking at this from the perspective of just playing a role playing game by myself in a venue that happens to have other "live" characters there too. Thanks.

there are 25 missions (non pvp) to start
there are 60-70 explorable areas (non pvp, not small) to start with additional content to be added by streaming in

fron GW

Guild Wars, in contrast, is based around your skill as a player. Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly, after about 20-30 hours of play. ,We call that 'The Point of Ascension'. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless.

edit

i am totally pve anduse free henchmen when needed (npc)

Solo play becomes very difficult as you progress, almost impossible. What you can do however is hire npc's that fight with out, it doesnt cost any so not really "hire".

I usually play alot with henchmen(NPC's)

<emphatizes as Loviatar copies and pastes that post for the gazillionth time>

To answer the question, the game is very playable solo wise. You have henchies that you can recruit and the monk henchie is amazingly better at healing than some humans.

Brand new to the game ( bought it 4 hours ago ) and am wondering, where do I find the henchmen? So far, I've only been to the first city (Ascalon city) and then to Ashford Abbey. But for the life of me I cannot find any of these henchmen. Is there somewhere in particular in the beginning areas where I can find them?

Thanks, and already getting engrossed in the game

Honour, you'll need to choose a secondary profession and then speak with the NPC near the academy gate. You're probably still in the tutorial.

You'll never be able to go back to your current location so make sure that you tie up all loose ends before doing this.

You're in what I've read referred to as "pre-searing". Remember the cut-scene you watched at the beginning of the game? You're playing "that day". It finishes the cut scene after you choose your secondary profession and consequently speak to the NPCs near the academy gates.

"post-searing" is when you have access to henchmen. You just click on them and click on the + in the party window to have them join your qroup. Quick & easy.
